Description
A tool warehouse is a facility designed for storing and lending equipment and tools used for maintaining the exterior of homes and gardens.

Key Features

Tool Search & Reservation
Find and reserve tools by work type or specific date.

Group Purchases
Organize and join community group buys for shared savings.

Easy On-Site Borrowing
Borrow tools instantly via scanning at the storage facility.

Wear Management
Monitor tool usage, track wear and repairs, and assign contractors efficiently.

The challenge
Users often struggle to check tool availability, organize group purchases, and keep track of tool conditions or contractor assignments. This project aimed to design a digital system that simplifies the borrowing process, fosters community engagement, and streamlines the management and maintenance of a shared tool warehouse.

Market research

Private Companies
Tool rental as an extension of their business, such as construction, garages, and gardening companies.

Public Entities
Municipalities, authorities, and knowledge and learning centers.

Book Lending
A similar domain where there is also a market for buying and selling books.
Business model
Social Business/Fourth Sector - Non-profit
"A social business is one whose operations are directed toward achieving social goals. All profits are reinvested into the business itself rather than distributed to shareholders to increase its social impact."
Public Sector Revenue: Funding by municipalities / local councils for development and maintenance licenses.
Third Sector Revenue: Monthly membership fees.
Private Sector Revenue: Affiliate marketing (purchase commissions), sponsorships, or direct sales exposure.

Daniel
Age 48, Married +3,
A Kibbutz member
"Buying and owning a lawn mower for just a few uses a year makes no sense - economically or environmentally."
Background
Daniel works as a field technical consultant specializing in water meter control systems. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Consulting. He maintains a 150-square-meter area including a lawn, ornamental garden, potted plants, and a few fruit trees.
In addition, Daniel leads a community project focused on planting and caring for trees along the access road to the kibbutz. He is an experienced gardening enthusiast who strongly believes in collaboration, reducing individual consumption through shared economies, and efficiently using Earth’s resources — values that have led him to manage the storage of shared gardening tools.
Daniel is always happy to offer advice and share his gardening knowledge with his neighbors.
Goals
•Maximize gardening capabilities for himself and his neighbors
